Tour Designer's Corner

In my early career as a tour escort, I have been to Tibet 5 times and my experience has contributed to the design of this exciting itinerary for my customers: China Spree Travelers.

Intentionally planned for no more than 18 days (from Thursday to Sunday), this tour includes only China's premiere destinations. China Spree offers a phenomenal itinerary that compasses the imperial city of Beijing, Historic Xian, scenic Guilin, mysterious Tibet, laid-back Chengdu, bustling Chongqing, a 3-night cruise down the Yangtze River, and the ultra-modern metropolitan Shanghai.

Besides Tibet and these “must-see” destinations in China, our itinerary also includes Li River in Guilin and Chengdu's Panda Reserve. Guilin is celebrated for its picturesque karst limestone pinnacles and meandering Li River. An old Chinese saying describes Guilin's landscape as “the best scenery under heaven”. Its misty limestone peaks “rise as suddenly from the earth as trees in a forest, and surrounding the city like mountains floating in an imaginary sea”. Those drawn to the mystical highlands of Tibet will also appreciate Guilin's timeless beauty that has inspired poets and artists for centuries. As a matter of fact Guilin and Tibet rarely appear in the same itinerary for the sake of the tour cost. China Spree offer all highlights in one affordable price.

Besides tours to the mystic lamaseries and temples in Lhasa, our exciting itinerary includes an excursion to the holy lake of Yamdrok Yumtsoso, which is 2 1/2 hours from the city of Lhasa. Rarely included in conventional tours, this scenic excursion offers an opportunity to marvel at the magnificent and austere landscape of the Tibetan Plateau, but also gives you a nice break from peering at Buddhist deities and temples, which can be a bit too much for some travelers.

The Tibet portion of the tour is in the middle portion of the journey so you have ample time to recover from jet-leg and acclimatize to China's weather conditions before you arrive high on the Tibet Plateau at Lhasa, which is at an altitude of over 11,000 feet. We intentionally planned the 3-night Yangtze cruise to happen after your stay in Tibet so you can relax and see the Yangtze gorges from the comfort of your ship.

Your Yangtze cruise is a 3-night downstream journey aboard one of the best River cruisers in the world, the M.V. Century Sky. By traveling downstream, the cruise is one day shorter than an upstream trip. This extra day is added to your time in Guilin.

We conclude the trip in Shanghai where this tour features the famed Yu Garden in Shanghai. It is one of the best-planned and well-preserved gardens in China, and includes all the elements of a classic Chinese garden. Your traveling time is limited and precious, so we are offering you only the best of the best. Your tour provides you with the maximum time to experience the very best of China. Other tour operators do include a visit to the gardens in the city of Suzhou, but the Yu Garden in Shanghai is at least the equal of anything in Suzhou, and a side trip to Suzhou would really be unnecessary.

An extension tour to Hong Kong is available; please call us for details.
