12 Day China Highlights (2012)

Tour Testimonials

I don’t know if all China spree tour groups are like ours. Ours was just such a good fit. We were all intelligent, well educated, and well traveled. We got along very well. We talked about that quite often and I wondered if perhaps there was something that China spree did to attract that sort of person or whether we were the only group like that. We laughed often even at the tour guides jokes. The 12 days went by way too fast but we will be in touch for many years, I just know it.

CS: Was there a particular highlight of your China trip you wish to share?

Answer: There were so many.... But I always tell the story of my sister in law Eva Benavides who went with us. 2 years ago I had total knee replacement and I worried about taking so a physical trip. Well, I decided that we were going to climb the hard part of the great wall as it was less crowded (for a reason I knew). The first easy part of it we were all fine. Then about every 15 minutes of the hour walk to the top she kept saying "How’s your knee, do you think you want to stop? If you do, I will walk down with you" She was exhasted and was looking for any excuse to stop" I told her, "no, I was not going to hate myself by coming all the way to China to not go to the top". And our group climbing that side did Me, David, Gloria, Eva, Mary, Alex, Robert, Janice, and Joanne that I can remember.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: I agree with the testimonials that I read before I chose China Spree. I also can’t beleive that China spree makes any money at all. I chose the China Highlights tour because it was an inclusive tour (all extremely filling meals, all air travel, all shows, all buses, all tour guides, gondola ride, rickshaw ride, wonderful hotels, all entrance fees, all history lessons, and the culture visits. EVERYTHING (they wouldn’t pay for my pearls tho). Every tour that I read on China spree not inclusive said, tour optional, entrance fees optional, so I thought by the time I pay for all the extras, I might as well get an exclusive tour. I also went there apprhensively thinking that the other shoe was going to drop and there would be some sort of surprise fees. Instead there were extra things not even mentioned. For example, when you get off the plane in Beijing until the security gate in Shanghai Pudong Airport, your national guide is with you every step of the way. He takes care of your baggage, your meals, your tours, your tickets, your boarding passes, everything (except I asked him to make the rain stop and he didn’t but...). The tour goes effortlessly, or so it appears to us. It is a finely oiled machine but you are just along for an enjoyable ride. You will love it even if you don’t like Chinese food. But I loved the food, my guides, the buses, I loved everything immensely) One thing however that you must do is to take a small bounded notebook and quit enjoying yourself long enough to write down some of what the tour guides are saying and also where you are going and what pictures you take. The fast pace of the tour makes some of the memories run into others. It took me 3 weeks to organize my 2500 pictures because I couldn’t remember place names. I don’t know if other tour companies are as good, but I know China Spree and its tour was unbeleivable. For those who have never considered China (like me), it is unbeleivable and the people there love Americans and you don’t get that in most countries. They are also very very happy people. I wish I had written down more informatin. I beleive the first dynasty was the Qin but I am not sure. You will be entertained on bus rides with interesting China history. And you will find yourself repeating the information that you remember, hence, write it down. At the airport I got in an argument with another china spree group memeber when I told them that our tour guide was the best and she seemed to think that her’s was the best. So maybe they are are good and maybe our group was the best ever also. P.S. Don’t be surprised if you are asked to have your picture taken with them. Some of them from the country have never seen a blond evidently.

We were absolutely "blown away" by our trip with Chinaspree. Everything about this trip exceeded our expectations. We can't say enough about it, and I keep talking to all my friends about what a great tour it was. They packed in the most wonderful highlights of China in each locale. Their tour guides were extraordinary; we had both a ntaional tour guide and local guides in each of the four regions. They were not only knowledgeable and fun to be with it, but went way out of our way to make sure the trip worked for each person, including the three children in our group. The food was not only plentiful but fantastic; we ate in private rooms and were served plate after plate of deliciousness. It felt like each meal was better than the last. Each locale had its own distinctive flavors. Some of the unique experiences were SO unique: aside from the normal wonderful sites one would want to see (Great Wall, Teracotta Warriors, Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, etc), there were so many surprises: the entertainment at night (Classical Chinese Music, Shanghai Acrobats, a production on the water in Guilin with a case of thousands), the silk factory process, where we learned how silk is made from cocoon to finished product, the Guilin River Trip, exquisite in its beauty and so interesting and fun, a rickshaw ride through old Beijing, a lunch in a family's home in Beijing, where we learned from the mom how to cook dumplings; a visit to a one room Yao Dung" where most of the people who don't live in the cities live in caves dug into the mountain: these experiences are so unique. We NEVER could have had such a rich and full trip trying to go on our own. It was absolutely delightful. 100 on a scale of 1-10. And I would repeat it in a second flat.

CS: Things that impressed you most on this trip

Answer: What impressed us most was the food, the excellence of the tour guides, how happy the people were; how taken care of people in China are (parks within 15 minutes of where people live in Shanghai); when they decimate an apartment complex, they give people larger rooms and transport all the businesses as well, retired people seem to be having such a good time in the parks. The country is so beautiful, and they are handling the rapid pace of growth well, we think. It did not seem crowded to us; there was a flow and ease about getting around. Guilin was absolutely beautiful, as was the Reed flute cave. The Terracotta Warriors took our breath away when we first walked in there.

Answer: How about 100? Lucy was absolutely amazing. She went way out of her way for us and EVERYONE, taking care of all requests, and even requests that were unspoken, finding ways to make it work for everyone all of the time.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: would say go to China! It is unlike any picutres that you have in your head about what it's like. It's an amazing country, with wonderful people, beautiful and fascinating sites, and going now, while it is in its rapid growth phase, is the perfect time. We loved it! We loved everything about this trip. And I'd go with China Spree. They make it not only affordable, but super comfortable, almost luxurious. It was like having a five start experience all the way while paying fantastic prices. Talk about being economical! Unbelievable.

When my sister and I signed up for China Spree’s 14 day Best Treasures tour we were a little nervous, despite testimonials we read, that the quality of the tour could be as high as suggested, given the incredibly economical price. There was certainly no need to worry. The quality of the hotels, the food, the drivers, the arrangements, the attention to detail and especially the guides were all excellent. China is a fascinating country with the ancient and the modern so intertwined. China Spree definitely provides the best value for experiencing this personally.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Our guide, Ron Wang, made this trip a success for us. His experience of getting a group in the right place at the right time, his understanding of the needs of the group, his incredible attention to detail, his ability to share his knowledge of China, and his wonderful sense of humor made the trip a great experience for us. On a scale of 1 to 10 he must be at least a 12!

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: Go with an open mind and a spirit of adventure and you'll have an unforgettable experience!

I signed up with China Spree based solely on the rave review provided by a globe-trotting friend who took one of its China tours in 2007, when the company had only recently started. From my own experience and after talking to my fellow travelers, I am convinced that I could not have done better, or indeed nearly as well, with any other tour group, based on value, accommodations, meals and guide service. My expectations were therefore high, and yet were exceeded by China Spree's performance. One telling indicator is that the generally middle-aged clientele attracted by China Spree from my experience is well-educated, gregarious, sophisticated and a pleasure to interact with. The trip option I chose, the 14-day 'Best Treasures' tour, precisely served my interests and provided several pleasant surprises to sites that I was not previously aware of. The guide service was outstanding and included both an overall national guide and local guides, all fluent in English, courteous, attentive to individual client needs and very knowledgeable. Long bus rides were enhanced by mini lectures and humorous tales narrated by our guides. The lodgings at new and lavish five-star hotels also exceeded expectations and were something to look forward to after long and full days of touring and sight-seeing. Meals were also first-rate and included an "international" breakfast with a vast choice of dishes and, but for one "Western-style" dinner, excellent Chinese food at both lunch and dinner. A testimony to the food quality and hygienic preparation was that no one to my knowledge developed any kind of stomach ailments after any of the meals arranged by China Spree. Considering the many things that can go wrong on a first-time tour of an exotic and complex country like China, my China Spree tour in the fall of 2009 was the most efficiently planned and executed operation that I have experienced in years. I enthusiastically recommend China Spree to anyone with an adventurous travel spirit who is interested in visiting this fascinating and increasingly important country.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Ron Wang is clearly a 'Ten'. I cannot imagine how he could have improved on his overall performance. His command of English is most impressive, as well as his sense of humor, his deep knowledge of Chinese history and his attention to every detail. He took outstanding care of us at all times, especially me, as the group's oldest member with a degree of walking and climbing limitations.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: Participants in their 60s and 70s or those who have any leg-related limitations should be aware that there is a considerable amount of walking and climbing involved, especially in the early days of the tour.

I have always questioned the validity of testimonials I read about any product or company on the internet, so when I searched for guided tours to China and read various positive testimonials about China Spree, I didn't take them completely seriously. I was, however, impressed with the Frommer recommendation. I was looking for a trip that would give me more time and more places than the local chamber of commerce tour would and I found that in "China's Best Treasures" itenerary. The actual trip so far exceeded my expectations that I could actually become a salesperson for this company. I never fail to mention China Spree in glowing terms when friends and family ask me about my trip. I tell them that it was the perfect trip in every way and that if they ever have the opportunity to go to China, they should check out the China Spree website and trust it --- they will not be disappointed. One additional comment: while at the airport, I met several other groups who had been on a different China Spree tour and both said that it also was a perfect trip and that their national guide was absolutely the best. I, of course, had to disagree because our Ron would be impossible to beat. Still, it was nice to hear that other groups had also had an excellent experience. Knowing that encourages me to come back to China, using China Spree as my tour company. Next time I plan to bring my entire family!

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: I would tell them not to miss a chance to see this amazing country. I would be happy to go back and do it all over again. I would also tell them to try to arrange to have Ron as a national guide.

A last minute business trip to China gave us an opportunity to tour this mysterious but alluring country. But we only had 5 days to connect with a tour group. Fortunately, we learned of China Spree and asked if we could join their "China's Best Treasures" group that was arriving in Beijing in just a few days. Their initial reaction was understandable -- "not possible" -- there were too many hotels, airlines and other details to arrange. But Wilson Wu, the Managing Director stepped in and made it all happen. We were amazed! Service above and beyond all expectations! Upon joining the group we discovered an energy ball named Lisa, who worked day and night to take care of our every need. When 4 members of our group were delayed in New York, Lisa made special arrangements for them to see the most important sites in Beijing that they had missed. Who else but China Spree would do such a thing? Over and over we found China Spree going beyond what was required in order to care for individual needs and interests. For example, in Guilin my wife and I wanted to take a countryside bicycle ride and hike that the other group members weren't interested in. Our local guide went with us to the bicycle shop, negotiated an excellent rental rate AND a personal guide, and then contacted the personal guide by phone along our way to make certain everything was going well. Who else but China Spree would do such a thing? On our last day our schedule necessitated an early morning departure, well before the rest of the group. And who shows up in the lobby, before sunrise, to wish us well, make sure we had a box breakfast and give instructions to the taxi driver? -- LISA! Who else but China Spree.... Needless to say, we were amazed and delighted with the service and style of the China Spree tour. The selection of sites to visit was outstanding. The hotels were far better than we anticipated. The food was always carefully selected and "safe". And we felt secure and comfortable all the way from beginning to end. We kept asking each other, "How can they do this for the price we paid?" We have a large family and are excited about the prospects of bringing them all to China under the guidance of China Spree. What better recommendation could we give? Thanks, China Spree, Wilson Wu, and Lisa!!

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: 10+++ Lisa was refreshing, fun, personable. We loved her cheerful Ni hao each morning, her Chinese lessons every day, and how she unified our group. She stopped at nothing to see that we had everything we required. Her sense of humor, knowledge of English and willingness to learn were evident as she conversed, joked and teased. Lisa is a tourist's dream guide.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: For us, China held so many mysteries and uncertainties. Our anxiety for traveling in China was great but being with China Spree alleviated all of that. From the very first meeting with our guide and the very first day in Beijing we felt comfortable, safe and well informed throughout the 12-day tour. Surprisingly, we didn't have to worry about security, the food, or the accommodations.

China Spree offered us an outstanding monetary value. It was hard to believe for the price that we were offered so much. In addition, we had an excellent tour guide whose English was very good and who was very knowledgable about local and national history. She looked after us like a mother hen, always anticipating every need. Lisa helped us to bargain for expensive items and taught us how to barter and deal with the street vendors. The tour itself was well-planned and had a flexible itinerary if the group needed a little more time at various places. Lots of bottled water was always available on the coach and no one got sick on the trip. All hotels were top-notch and the good food offered was varied with both American and Chinese offerings. Adjustments were made for people with special food needs. We are already planning a return tour with China Spree and are recruiting our friends to go along. If you get Lisa as your guide, we must rate China Spree as the best tour we have ever taken.

CS: What did you like about this trip?

Answer: Everything. The hotels were wonderful with excellent service and food. A tour guide can make a trip wonderful, terrible or boring. Lisa Li was extraordinary: great sense of humor, knew lots of historical facts, looked after us like a mother hen, every need or wish was immediately taken care of.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Lisa Li is a 10 plus, see comments above. The trip would not have been as enjoyable with another guide. She was very professional, had great personality and was attentative to every need, always thought ahead and was ready for whatever we might need or ask for. Flexible when we stayed too long because of enjoyment or ready to change a particular site for another time if better suited. Lisa helped us to bargain for better prices and helped us learn to bargain with the locals.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: Bring toliet paper and sunscreen and drink lots of water every day. If you see something you want to buy, get it then, you probably won't see the item again. Be sure to bring currency that is as new and crisp as possible, especially in larger denominations.

The mixture of cities and towns was a good line up in the itinerary. I liked that we started in Beijing, went west, down south, then ended up in Shanghai. I got a variety of different cultures from the trip. It was amazing to see the Great Hall, Forbidden City, Guilin mountain views, local markets, and the gardens in Suzhou. The show Impression was a must! The tour guide Lisa was professional and knowledge. She provided good information for each stop we made. Also, she was ahead of us in preparing for transportation and hotel stays. The trip was comfortable. I like having free times to explore on my own at the same time having a framework for the 14 days while I was in China. Any time I got a chance to interact with the locals, it was fantastic as well. The last day of free day in Shanghai was a good change of pace.

Just got back from 14 day China's Best Treasures, the tour was the most spectacular trip i have ever been on it blended cultural sites and beautiful scenery all in one.. I bonded with our group and had such a fun exciting time. Everything is handled for you by experts. So relax and open your mind to another world.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Lisa...she impressed me the most. I loved her knowledge and humor and she brought China and all it's wonders up close and personal to her tour. Next to her it was Hiking the Great Wall with all it's majestic beauty, Terra Cotta Warriors and the Show by Zhang Yimou on the Li River against its limestone peaks..

Lisa was China's Best Treasure.. She is a perfect example of Excellent Customer Service.. She really made each person in our group feel special and i personally watched her turn from sweetheat to Dragon Lady when one hotel messed up our rooms...Lets just say she knows how to get things done. We could not be more pleased.

Answer: This trip is an adventure of a lifetime and the amazing sites will always be in your memories and photo's.

For anyone looking to plan the "trip of a lifetime" this is it! China Spree was outstanding. However, I must say now it is the first of what I hope will be many trips to China! The guides are outstanding. I learned so much about China, the fabulous people and saw the most amazing sites I've ever seen. "It simply breath taking," is what one woman on our tour kept saying. She was right. China Spree provided "breath taking" events every day at several locations. You will not be bored or disappointed! The accommodations were lovely. We took the 14 day trip, but now I wish it had been 21! (Too bad I have to keep working for a living!) If you are thinking about taking this trip, don't put it off! You will be glad you went with this outstanding tour company.

Answer: Tour Manager? Do you mean national guide? If so Amber was a 20! I would love to host her in America if you decide to do an exchange and have your guides learn about America culture too.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: China is a beautiful country! Modern, yet culturally preserved, learn first hand about the "breath taking" sites, adventures and people. Don't put it off - this is fun, exciting and relaxing all at the same time.

Hello China Spree,

I just got back from my trip thru China with Chinaspree. Wow! What an amazing trip I went on. The hotels were all 5 star, the food was excellent ( I used to hate Chinese food, but now I love it) the sites were amazing, and the Tour Guide went above and beyond my expectations. I cannot say enough praises for Lynn Dong, she held the group together like sticky rice! We were always two dollar around her and she always made sure we used the Happy Room! Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to be on this trip. Lynn Dong definitely deserves a Raise!!!!!! I made sure I tipped her 2 times more than the reqested amount. Please give her an oppotunity to come here to America so she can learn more about our country. I know she would love it. This trip was a five Star experience at a 3 star price. I don't know how you did it, but it will bring memmories that last a lifetime.

Like I tell anyone who wants to travel to China I say this:
"If you want to travel to China you must consider China Spree!!! You would be stupid if you didn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Thank you for a great and memorable trip.

What most impressed us was the professionalism of China Spree. Everything was taken care of to the last detail. Nothing was left to chance. The accommodations were super and the meals were very good, considering the differences in habits. We felt protected and taken care of the entire trip. We don't stop talking about the trip, and certainly will recommend it to all our friends.

After quite a bit of research, reading reviews on tripadvisor.com, fordors and frommers, and speaking to several prior travelers, my research led me to believe that a tour made the most sense for a frist trip given the culture and the potential sensitivity of quality travel, hotel and food arrangements. I decided to join the Best of China/Hong Kong tour with my wife, daughter and best friend. A major requirement for me was to take a tour with a National Tour guide. We were amazing ly lucky to meet Vctor, who was the best guide one could imagine - an engaging, friendly, smart, driven person whose only goal was for all travelers to have a fantastic time. Victor and ChinaSpree exceeded our expectations. I know we will return one day, and that we will see Vicotr once again. In fact, I would not return to China without Victor!!!!!

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: ChinaSpree offers excellent value and tour guides that are driven to make your vacation a lasting memory. It is a perfect introduction to a very different culture . . . and, while I am certain that all of their employees are terrific, play it safe and make certain that Victor is your National Guide!

We loved our China's Best Treasures tour with China Spree. Our tour guide Lisa was absolutely fantastic. She had great information, was fun, and looked after our every need. It was great that we didn't have to go by the itinerary word for word. We would change a day here or there because of what the group wanted or what was happening in the city that day. The sightseeing was fantastic, and the shopping was just the right amount. Plus the hotels were amazing. Very luxurious for us who are budget travellers. The price for the tour is great too. China Spree arranged our connecting flights and visas and everything went smoothly. When I go back to China, I will definitely go with China Spree!

CS: What did you like about this trip?

Answer: Our guide Lisa made the trip fantastic for us. Besides the places we went, she was the absolute best thing about the trip. We loved Forbidden City, the rice terraces outside Guilin, the dim sum dinner and show, the Terra Cotta warriors, the buddhist temple, walking on the wall, our hotels in Beijing and Shanghai were amazing, the show in Yangshou, and Li river cruise. Our guide Jack in Guilin was also great. I also liked that we didn't have to stick exactly to our itinerary. We changed the day we went to the Forbidden City because of the rehearsal for Oct 1 parade and we skipped a second silk tour because no one in the group wanted to go.

CS: Things that impressed you most on this trip

Answer: Lisa. She was fantastic in arranging anything we wanted, helping when there were any problems, or attending to any of our needs. I don't eat red meat or pork and at every meal she was very careful to tell me what was in each dish. I was very impressed with the quality of hotels we stayed in. I'm more of a budget traveller and it was very nice to stay in such great hotels.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: 10 absolutely. I can't imagine any way she could have been better. Not only was she a perfect guide, but she is a nice and genuine person as well.

Answer: You'll be happy you chose China Spree. They made the trip very easy and took care of our every need. Highly recommended!

I am so glad I went on this trip to China with Chinaspree. I liked being part of a small group (there were 19 in our group) because I was able to get to know everybody well. We also looked out for each other, especially when one of our tour members developed a pinched nerve in her left hip and was in severe pain. Our tour guide, Lisa, was excellent and she worked tirelessly on our behalf. She was particularly helpful to me with an incident regarding two street vendors who cheated me out of an extra 200 yuan. I would have let it go but Lisa put on her "Dragon Lady" persona and fought for me. We were able to see the famous sights all tourists go to see, like Tianenmen Square and the Terra Cotta Warriors, but we also got to have lunch with a local family in the hutongs of Beijing, meet a family of yao dong dwellers, go on a Li River cruise and view the stunning scenery and wildlife, visit the rice paddies of Long Sheng, and have a free day in Shanghai. I will treasure the memory of my free day in Shanghai as I got to personally meet my penfriend Peter, whom I had corresponded with for 13 years. I felt like a resident riding the city buses of Shanghai and appreciated Peter's expertise in bargaining with the vendors on my behalf.

CS: What did you like about this trip?

Answer: There were so many things I like that it would take a long time to list them all. Briefly, here are my favorite things: our national guide, Li Yuan a.k.a. Lisa, our local guides Jack (Guilin) and Susan (Shanghai), our skillful drivers, the small size of the group (19), the other tour members, the wonderful hotels, all the included excursions and meals, the light show in Yangshuo, the Li River cruise, the "discovery" experiences, and the smoothness of getting to and from each place.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Our tour manager, Lisa, should be rated a 10-plus. She was very personable and allowed us to get to know her well. Most tour guides are rather aloof, which is necessary when you are herding around a group of 40 or more wide-eyed tourists. Being part of a small group allowed us to get to know Lisa and each other on a more intimate level. Lisa's general performance was excellent, excellent, excellent! She got to know each of us well and had a good sense of humor. We taught her the phrase "clear as mud" after she told us about once telling a tour group that she was "spreading butter on them" instead of "buttering them up."

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: Do go with an open mind. China is trying hard to maket itself to Westerners: signs are in both Chinese and English and the vendors know pidgin English. But be prepared for "eastern style" toilets, which are difficult for Western women to use. I have greater respect for Chinese women now! It's also hard to deal with the aggresive sales tactics of the street vendors. Coming from a culture in which the price stated is the final price in most cases, bargaining is a bit intimidating and the vendors' aggression can get annoying. But it's all part of the experience of being in another country and culture and it enriches one's life.

The tour far exceeded our expectations. It began with our tour guide, Lisa. She was the best ever tour guide, a 10 plus. She took care of all of our needs. The ininerary allowed us to see both the new and the old China. It is pretty had to impress me, but I had to say "wow and awesome" a number of times at the scenic places that we visited. The 10 course lunches and dinners allowed us to try many regional dishes. I particularly liked the Peking duck dinner, and in general enjoyed eating my way through China. When we talk to people about our trip, we will definitely tell them about and recommend China Spree. Thank you China Spree for a great experience and trip.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Lisa is the best ever tour guide. She is more than a 10, more like a 10 X 10. She took care of all of us from the very beginning until we said goodby at the Shanghai airport. She had a warm smile that greeted us every morning, a sense of humor, and was a very knowledgeable tour guide. She was adaptable and was able to handle any problems that came up quickly and efficently.

Answer: Choose China Spree. You won't be disappointed. You will have a great experience and adventure.

Our family of four (two adults and two teen / 20s children) took the China Best Treasures tour led by Ron. The group was eleven in total, large enough to create new friendships and small enough to allow us to move through the two weeks with little hassle or delay. Since this was our first time to China, it was a great introduction to the sites you'd want to see plus it provided enough variety to keep all of us interested. Ron was a terrific leader and in many ways became an extension of our families during the two weeks. He was very knowledgable about all aspects of China's history through the current time, but he has a wonderful grasp of the English language and was able to weave in his unique sense of humor to always keep us interested and amused. We did quite a bit of research before choosing China Spree. We found that their tours are competitively priced and provice many of the same accommodations and sights that the more expensive tours charge. Their group size is also smaller than many of the other tours offered at a similar price point. We would highly recommend both China Spree and this particular tour for an intro to China; we are looking forward to taking other China Spree tours in the future.

Answer: We loved out National Guide Ronald. We could not have asked for a better person to help make our time in China very memorable. Ron presented the material very well. He did not come across as if he memorized the facts. His English is wonderful. He has a great sense of humor. Ron is a very personable person. We enjoyed being with him and had a difficult time saying good bye.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: When traveling to China you need to remember it is an adventure you will come across situations that will take you out of your comfort zone- not having a a toilet seat is one of them. This all part of the expereince and the flavor of the culture. You can not depend on using credit cards as we do in the states, you need cash mostly...Umbrellas are not only good for the rain, but can be use for the the hot sun.

14-Day China's Best Treasures, August, 2009

My wife and I took the Best Treasures trip in August 2009. This trip was a real bargain at the China Spree price. We usually travel as independent travelers and arrange everything ourselves, but for our first trip to China, using this organized tour was really the way to go. We were impressed by the hotels, flights, food, and sites that we saw. The services of Ronald Wang as our host guide allowed us to tour with a feeling of personal safety while providing valuable insight into life in China now and in the past. Our group was of a modest size (11) and everyone meshed well together as friends. Everything ran smoothly and to our satisfaction...well done China Spree!

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: We think Ronald Wang is awesome and deserves the highest rating. He is very well educated and provided a lot of insight. We felt that he went overboard looking out for our best interest and well being. His efforts made us feel safe wherever we went. We particularly liked it that he was able to provide a living experience from growing up in the Mao era of the 1960's & 70's. Quite frankly we liked Ron because although he lives in China, he was like us (commonality). He was the same age as most of our group, we all had similar educations, and his family is similar to all our families. He could be one of our friends back home.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: Now is the time to go and see China because it is changing at such a dramatic rate. The current low cost of this vacation makes it well within reach of many travelers...they just don’t know it.

We picked China Spree from a group we found on the internet. We were apprehensive about choosing a company with no personal recommendations. We have arranged and traveled on maybe 15+ tours before with high school students and realize there can be big differences in companies. A group of 3 of us joined the tour and we just got back a week ago. I can not tell you how much we loved it. Anybody can write a testimonial, but I can truly say that we are total believers in China Spree after our experience. I had traveled to China several times on business, but never seen the sights. So, we were glad to have English speaking, knowledgeable guides and they orchestrated the trip with precision. We had several guides and each was fantastic. This tour company gave us a great trip for a very reasonable price. The tour is for anyone that wants to visit China and experience this interesting and diverse country in a very practical and comfortable manner. We loved it and we loved China Spree. We had an incident on our trip that called for representatives to go far above and beyond the call of duty in the early morning hours. The representatives demonstated great care and compassion and took care of a couple with a medical emergency at home with great professionalism. You won't be sorry if you choose China Spree.

CS: Things that impressed you most on this trip?

Answer: The guides, the tour buses, the attention to detail, the fact that your representatives came and got 2 of our tour members and took them to the airport due to a family emergency and then met them in Beijing and helped them there. Now THAT is customer service.. We are dedicated China Spree fans now and have already recommended your company to many of our associates.

CS: The local guides, per your opinion, need improvement. Please specify in details

Answer: If I put in one word of criticism about any guide, I would be doing them a disservice. We were VERY pleased. My wife has led 17 tours of high school kids mostly to Spain and they always had tour guides, so she knows good ones from bad ones. She said the China Spree guides were some of the best she has ever experienced.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: The people are friendly, the country is safe and clean, the bathrooms available and the food great. Don't miss the chance to experience China.

We took the Best Treasures of China tour, The itinerary was outstanding, touching not only the standard, and must, visit highlights of the cities, but also side trips that provided some insights into the lives of Chinese people in this big and diverse country. The tour guides are thoughtful and professional and cannot be better. We stayed at excellent hotels in all of the different cities and the tour buses are airconditioned and comfortable, except Xian. The tour is an exceptional value.

In July 2009, my girlfriend and I took the 14 day Best of China Treasures offered by China Spree. We were both extremely pleased with everything. THE SITES CHOSEN, THE HOTELS AND THE MEALS WERE EXCELLENT OVERALL. I must say that everything far exceeded our expectations. For the price, we were expecting that they would shortcut somewhere such as occasionally a poorer hotel or a bad meal. But, China Spree delivered the value even though the cost was equal to or lower than other travel services in China. I recommend this to anyone wanting to spend a couple of weeks getting to know China cultures, people and sites.

CS: What did you like about this trip?

Answer: Seemed like a good value versus other tours. Also, it took us to places that "real people" go. The hotels and meals were excellent. And our guide, Dung Lynn was superb. Very concientious and thoughtful. She was always focused on our needs and being sure that we got to the right places.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: Chinese people are courteous, caring and they work hard.

Traveling China with China Spree was the best choice we made this year. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Beijing to the moment we left from Shanghai, absolutely everything was organized for us. The food was delicious and everyone had their favorites. The hotel accomodations were all extremely luxurious and we felt very comfortable throughout the trip with the different transportation methods as well. Jim Mao, our national guide was another Treasure that made our trip that much more enjoyable. He went above and beyond to make everybody happy and made sure everything was always perfectly planned. We never had to wait in line anywhere! He made us feel right at home in a country so far away. I would definately recommend China Spree for traveling to China!

CS: What did you like about this trip?

Answer: Our tour guides were all extremely friendly, knowleadgable, and outgoing. Especially Jim Mao made our trip very special and brought our group together like a family. I also like the family style lunches and dinners because it allowed us to get to know all the other families. I also liked the combination of museums and sightseeing with more active days like the rice terraces.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Our national guide Jim Mao, was very organized and worked hard to make everybody happy. He made our busrides pass by so fast because he taught us some Chinese and gave us details about both our itinerary and the places we were traveling to. He deserves a 10 without a doubt. I would recommend China Spree to be done with Jim Mao to any of my friends/family!

I am so impressed with China Spree! Our tour was just great -- more than I dreamed it would be and was also a wonderful value. We went on the Best Treasures tour in July, 2009. Our accommodations were all better than I expected. Every hotel room was very clean and even luxurious. Our meals were great. Most meals were Chinese and served family style. The food was very good, but not so different from American style Chinese food that you should be concerned about it being too foreign. We had about 12-15 different dishes -- no kidding -- served at each meal. The food was plentiful and with each meal you have your choice of bottled water, soda, or beer. China Spree handled every aspect of the tour process from registration to our return home professionally. They are really on top of things. Everything went as planned and with no surprises. We had a group of 15 people and had a tour guide that accompanied us for the whole trip as well as an additional guide at each of the locations within China. That is, an additional guide with us between each domestic flight. Our guides were knowledgeable and fun to be with. They spoke English well. They knew what they were doing in terms of leading a group as well. We always felt safe and knew that we could depend on them to help us with whatever we might need. Our tour kept us busy throughout the day. We would typically leave the hotel at 8 AM visit one or two sites, have lunch at a convenient location and go onto the next site. We sometimes ate dinner before returning to the hotel or sometimes had an hour or so back at the hotel before we went to dinner. After dinner, there were sometimes other activities. There were only one or two activities that were optional with an additional fee. These were reasonably priced and it made sense that they should be optional. For example, there was a Kung Foo show option in Beijing the night of the first full day. Some people were really exhausted and chose not to go. Others were not interested. We did go. The show was reasonable -- as I recall about $30 per person -- and was well worth the money. We could never have done this trip as efficiently on our own. It was great to sit back, let China Spree do the work, and have the benefit of their expertise and knowledge at our fingertips! I never thought that I would consider a second trip to China, but now I hope to go back again soon. Thank you China Spree!

CS: What did you like about this trip?

Answer: It was perfect! The balance with free time and planned time was very good. The local guides were knowledgeable and excellent. I especially would like to compliment Michael in Beijing. He has a great personality for the job, is a born storyteller. He was fabulous! Lisa in Xian was sweet and very helpful and knowledgeable as well. I can't say enough to compliment our national guide, Jim Mao. He made us feel safe, welcome and was a font of knowledge. This was my first guided tour. I would generally prefer the independence of traveling on my own. I think that in a country as complex and different that your tour was the perfect choice. You kept us busy, our accommodations and meals were superb, the itinerary included EVERYTHING I could have hoped for. The experience of your guides and the organization of your company was excellent. Things went smoothly every step of the way.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: It will be the trip of your life! Relax and rest assured that China Spree will make your experience great!

This was our first trip to China and China Spree made us feel comfortable the entire time! The tour guides were very knowledgeable, professional and personable. China Spree has greatly exceeded my expectations and provided me, my husband and friends a memorable tour of this beautiful country. In the very beginning our tour guide met each of us with friendliness and made us all feel welcomed. Not knowing what to expect , I was very surprised to find that our accomodations were nothing but 1st class. The food was exceptionally delcious and the people were so very gracious. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable about their country and they made every effort to make sure that when we went back home we took a piece of this beautiful country with us. China Spree made every effort to provide a tour that included all the magnificient places that they could possibly fit into a 14 day tour which started from the Tiananmen Square, to the Great Wall, to the Li River, the Long Sheng's Dragon Spine Terraces and everything in between. We have learned so much. Thank you China Spree for giving me an experience that I will always remember and cherish!

CS: What did you like about this trip?

Answer: For starters I loved the tour guides. Ron, Linda and Carl were friendly, knowledgeable, humorous, helpful and tolerant. I miss Ron - he was like family. He took such good care of our group and he made everything easy for us. Your country is beautiful, the people are so very gracious, the food was so delicious and our accomadations were 1st class throughout the entire trip. Our national guide, Lisa Li, was nothing short of sensational. She sweated all the details and addressed any and all problems. Miraculously, when we awoke in the morning, we discovered Lisa had solved the problem overnight. She was very sincerely and personally commited towards each group member having an extraordinary experience. China Spree's tour booklet was very comprehensive and informative.

I cannot imagine a more wonderful two week tour of China for our group of returning parents and Chinese adopted girls. The trip exceeded all our expectations. The itinerary was full of memorable highlights like the Great Wall, the Long Sheng rice paddies, the Li River cruise and our bicycle ride on the top of the old Xi 'an city wall. Everything ran smoothly. The hotels, buses, and meals were all of the highest caliber. Beyond the well thought through and well delivered tour, we all LOVED our national tour guide, Lisa Li. She was warm, caring, knowledgeable, and flexible. She worked non-stop to make sure our trip was the best it could be. We appreciated the excellent staff work of China Spree in China and the United States. We have come back with memories that will last our lifetime along with a much greater understanding of China's past and present. Thank you, China Spree!

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Ding, ding, ding hao! Excellent. On a scale of 1-10 Lisa Li gets a 20!! She is responsible for turning a good tour into a fantastic tour for us. She was personable with everyone, she shared stories from her family life that everyone loved, she was always on top of the logistics - getting us the right rooms and making sure that the buses and food were on time. She was knowledgeable about all the sites were visited. She was flexible when we needed more time. Both adults and our girls loved her like family at the end of the trip.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: Be prepared for a fast pace and lots of walking. Buy souvenirs whenever you can. We waited until the end and then ran out of time.

My 12-year old daughter and I went on this trip with another mother-daughter pair. I have travelled quite a bit independently and was was a little concerned about taking a package tour. I dreaded the idea of alighting everywhere from a tour bus and just looking at what the guide pointed at, but I could see the tour would be less expensive and easier than trying to put together the same trip ourselves. The bus and guides turned out to be great advantages! We saw much more than we would have without the guides and the bus, and never felt trapped. The bus saved us a lot of time over other transportation and was very comfortable and handy as a 'home base' to stash extra clothing, purchases or things we might want later. We always had a case of bottled water on the bus, and shared snacks. The kids took over the back of the bus, passing iPods back and forth and playing cards on longer trips. Often, we were eager to climb on the bus and sit down and enjoy the AC after a couple of hours of sightseeing. The guides ensured we got to the sites when they were open but less crowded and managed all of our transportation. I hadn't realized how much time and energy I normally spend while traveling on that, but it made this trip very relaxing and stress-free. We had free time to wander around on our own at most of the major sites (for example we had several hours at the Great Wall). Because each of our guides was also a local resident and rode on the bus with us, we were able to quiz them about their families and how they lived and they were all very friendly and open. The national guide who was with us for the entire trip was a seasoned professional, and took full responsibility for ensuring that each of us was comfortable and having fun every day of the trip. I am a vegetarian and have been to China twice in the past. Based on that experience, I expected to lose weight on this trip, as I have on past trips to China. Instead, I am afraid I ate my way through China. China Spree took us to some good restaurants, and ensured we were well-served. At every meal the guides had notified the restaurant in advance and not only pointed out what was vegetarian when it was brought to the table, but got additional vegetarian dishes just for me. Every meal was different, and most were really delicious. I would recommend China Spree to anyone going to China, particularly anyone who hasn't been there before and wants to pack a lot of sightseeing into one trip. The China Spree Best Treasures trip is a nice mix of historical sites and natural beauty. An equivalent trip in the US would cover the monuments in Washington DC and the Boston area, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone, a steamboat cruise down the Mississippi with a broadway show in New York City - imagine doing that in two weeks!

CS: Things that impressed you most on this trip

Answer: LongSheng was beautiful, and very interesting. That was my favorite day and site on the trip. After that, I enjoyed visiting the kindergarten next door to the Yao Dong we visited and the lunch in a Hutong household in Beijing. Overall however, our national tour guide was the best thing about our trip.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Jim is a 10. He seemed genuinely happy with his job, friendly, and concerned that each of us have a good time. He is also very practical and an excellent time-manager. He had us everywhere on time, even though he didn't seem to be watching his watch or worrying about it. He took care of us in every sense, ensuring we had our passports and belongings, drank enough water, put on bug repellant, and avoided pickpocketers. He noticed my daughter had a cold, and offered to take me to a pharmacy to get some remedies, which we did. He recommended some evening events, such as foot massages in Guilin, that were not on the itinerary, even though doing so extended his own working day.

My mother and I recently went on the China's Best Treasures tour. It was PHENOMONAL! We have traveled to many countries throughout the past couple years and taken a few tours, but China Spree was by far the best tour we'd ever been on! It is a new company, which makes many people a little scared, but trust me, you will NOT be disappointed! I passed our itinerary on to a few friends who had already traveled to China, they could not believe everything we were going to see, and for such a low price! On our flight home, we already started looking into the Silk Road tour with China Spree. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give them an 11! Bravo China Spree!

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: RONALD WANG - HE REALLY KNEW A LOT ABOUT THE VARIOUS SITES AND HISTORY OF THE COUNTRY. HE WAS MORE THAN WILLING TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS WE MAY HAVE HAD, EVEN SOME THAT OTHER GUIDES WOULD HESITATE ABOUT ANSWERING. HE TOOK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US UNDER HIS WING AND WATCHED OUT FOR OUR SAFETY. HE NEVER ONCE BASHED ON ANOTHER TOUR COMPANY, BUT HE COULD NOT SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT CHINA SPREE. HE REALLY WENT ABOVE AN BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY (HE EVEN SENT ME A BIRTHDAY FRUIT BASKET. MY BIRTHDAY WAS JUNE 7, THE DATE OF OUR ARRIVAL) HE WAS AN EXCELLENT GUIDE! ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10, WITH 10 BEING THE HIGHEST, I WOULD GIVE HIM AN 11.

CS: According to your experience from this trip what would you suggest to those who are going to traveling to China?

Answer: Forget trying to do it on your own. Book China Spree (with Ronald Wang!)!

We had never traveled with a tour group and were a little apprehensive about having all our time and activities preplanned. However, from the time we arrived until the time we departed everything was wonderful. We never felt pressured or rushed. We were given ample time to see all sights and do our shopping. The people in our group[ were from all over the country and different walks of life yet we became a "family" for the time we were in China. Our trip was truly a memorable once in a lifetime event. Since returning home, we have recommended China Spree to several friends who have expressed an interest in visiting China.

This was our first oversees trip as a family (6 of us). Our family includes 3 teen-agers and a tween. Earlier this year we decided it was good time for all of us to take our "dream" vacation to China and explore our Chinese heritage. Having never been to China before, we wanted to take the best tour available. We researched many other tour companies, and were almost ready to book with another popular tour company, but when we spoke with some relatives, we changed our mind. Our relatives, had taken the China Spree 14 day China's Best Treasures tour, last year and only had positive things to say out it. After doing more research, we decided to take the same tour. We were not disappointed. Our national tour guide, Ronald Wang, was excellent, as were the local guides. All of them were very knowledgable and informative. It was an unbelievable trip; the intinerary is packed full of sightseeing, exploring and educational experiences. Our 4 kids were never bored. They absorbed everything they heard, saw, smelled (daughter #1 couldn't get use to the incense smells) and tasted (the kids all learned to like eggplant, especially the eggplant dish at the rice terrance restaurant in Long Sheng). There was alway ample time to shop. Our 2 teen-aged boys loved to bargain shop and their favorite show was the Kung Fu show. At every show we attended, we had excellent seats. The Culture InSites is also one of the reason why we booked with China Spree. The lunch at a Hutong home was interesting and the visit to a village/farm in Xian gave us a look into how our ancestor lived. Overall, the food was good; we liked how all of the hotels served western types of breakfast foods, too. The accomodations were excellent, mostly 4-5 star. We all got along well and made lots of new friends. None of us wanted the tour to end, we were having so much fun! We look forward (especially the kids) in booking another China Spree tour in the future, possibly the Silk Roads and letting #1 tour guide, Ronald Wang lead the way.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Honestly, Ronald Wang, was the BEST! Definately a 10 ++. Ronald was always looking out for all of us, making sure we were all safe, and together and having enough bottled water (very important). He would point out the "Happy House" (toilets), for us. "Never miss an opportunity", Ronald would say. He knew us women. We all learned a lot from him and I personally, enjoyed listening about his personal experiences as a tour guide and his personal life.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: You will not be disappointed. Our family of 6 is already looking forward to another China Spree tour in the future. Plus, 2 of our Chinese friends have booked a 16 day tour for later this year because of our recommendations. They even want our tour guide, Ronald Wang.

The Tour Manager, Ming, was excellent in every aspect of her job. The tour group consisted of just twelve most congenial people. Food and hotels were varied and uniformly excellent. A China Spree tour is a definite bargain with no sacrifice of quality for the price.

CS: What did you like about this trip?

Answer: The thing I remember most is the friendliness and courtesy of the Chinese people. i would like to have had an opportunity to talk with more people to get their impressions and opinions and learn more about daily life in China. Perhaps it sounds uncritical but I enjoyed every aspect of this trip. I have traveled somewhat extensively and China was a great experience.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Our Tour Manager, Ming, deserves a 10. She gave careful attention to details and was always well organized. She had the ability of being available whenever needed but allowing tour members to participate and did not feel she always had to be the center of all activity. As a result, tour members became friends and this added greatly to the enjoyment of thee tour. I have taken tours in other countries and Ming is the best tour manager I have encountered.

What an amazing trip! If you're looking for a very good and honest tour company, China Spree is the way to go. I have learned so many amazing things from my stay in China; I only wished I had booked a longer stay. China Spree took care of everything - once you step off the plane in Beijing you are taken care of until you leave for home. Excellent meals, excellent hotels, flawless service from the bus driver to the tour guides, everything you can imagine; not to mention all the amazing destinations your tour will take you to (depending on the package). When it came down to choosing which tour company to use I'm so happy I went with China Spree; you won't be disappointed. I would recommend you ask for Jim Mao as your national tour guide, he made the trip that much more special and unique. In the beginning I was debating whether to go to China by ourselves and make all the travel arrangements. Thank God we didn't, it would've been a bit of a hassle; our guides took care of our domestic flights, meals plentiful and served up quickly, our hotel arrangements, our transportation within the cities, our tickets for the cultural sites, any special requests we had. It just put your mind at ease to know you had such good people taking care of everything, and it allowed us to really sit back and enjoy the ride. Also worth mentioning is that large groups get priority access to most of the historical sites, so we really didn't stand in the long lines for the individual entrance. I was a bit skeptical a first putting all my trust in one company - but the quality and service we got was unsurpassed and I would definitely recommend China Spree to anyone wanting to experience China. When the opportunity comes to visit China again, I'll be booking with China Spree.

China Spree's "Best Treasures" tour more than met our expectations. All aspects, hotels, meals, transportation, sights, guides and tour director were fabulous. The tour was was well thought out and exactly as described, but so much more! Our tour director, Jim Mao, was professional, flexible, funny, and loved by all. He did everything possible to accomodate the needs of each and everyone of our group. We would recommend China Spree, and especially Jim Mao to family, friends and future China travelers.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Jim Mao was above a 10. He expertly led our group with humor, flexibility, genuine caring for each of us and with great love for China. He began as our tour director and shortly became a friend. He is a great ambassador for the People's Republic of China. We will always remember him with great fondness.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: The People's Republic of China is a big WOW! We were amazed by this beautiful country, it's architecture, natural beauty, historical sights, and friendly people. China Spree does a very good job of showing beautiful China to touring groups.

Dear China Spree We had a marvelous time on your 14-day tour to Beijin, Xian, Gui Lin, SuZhou and Shanghai, with stops at Long Sheng and Tong Li. Your itinerary is vastly superior to all others that we considered. To top it off, we had such wonderful tour guides, especially our national guide, Lynn, that we would consider her part of our family. Thank you for a wonderful experience, especially for our teenage children. It was crystal clear that our comfort, safety and enjoyment were top priorities. We certainly relished the attentive care that was given to us on this wonderful trip. Keep up the good work!

If you are adventurous but like to be pampered, China Spree should take you on your next big outing. I would describe our trip using the concept of "Fengshui." It meandered like wind and water... smoothly and gently with the right amount of current and swirls to make it interesting. Chinese art and traditions are full of symbolism. Your guides will take you to venues that will unlock the ancient mysteries while demonstrating how the past informs the present and leads you to an understanding of China's place in the world of the future. "China's Best Treasures" is well named. This tour is flawlessly designed, as flawless as a pearl from the South China Sea.

We took this tour (China's Best Treasures) in July 2009 when it was very wet, hot and humid. Our primary purpose was to view the solar eclipse on July 22. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see it because of rain. In spite of that disappointment, though, we enjoyed the tour immensely because China Spree thought of so many wonderful sights and experiences for us. All of our guides were well-informed, helpful and fun. The tour was amazingly well thought out and well run. Everything went like clockwork without a single glitch.

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: China is full of surprises - from the impressive tree-lined streets of Beijing to the skyscrapers of Shanghai to the manicured rice paddies of the countryside. People are welcoming and pleasant everywhere. Go with China Spree!

We chose the 14 day China's Best Treasures Tour with China Spree and we were delighted. Not only were all accommodations first rate, all were air conditioned and clean with western style bathrooms. The meals were delicious with very generous portions, no one went away hungry. The Li River Cruise was the highlight of the tour for me, but everything else was also beautiful and interesting. The optional shows were entertaining and I still wonder how did those performers do the things they did? The person that made our tour such a success was our national guide, Jim Mao. He was knowledgeable, entertaining and a delight to travel with. This tour was the most memorable trip if my life.

CS: Comment on your Tour Manager, using rate 1-10 while 10 is the best

Answer: Jim Mao can be described in two words "THE BEST"!!!!!! He was always there with answers, always making sure everyone had what they needed. He has a wonderful sense of humor. He is a 10 in our book!

CS: Based on your experience from this trip what would you like to say to potential travelers to China?

Answer: China Spree won't disappoint. The cost is right, the accommodations very nice, good meals and the sights, nothing else like them in the world.

We enjoyed our China's Best Treasures tour with China Spree immensely. From the courtesy and helpfulness of those booking the tour to the capabilities and knowledge of those executing it, the tour was a rewarding experience that we will not soon forget. It is not a tour for the faint of heart, but those with a robust enthusiasm for discovery would unquestionably enjoy this trip. With thanks to the entire China Spree operation.

China Spree is one of a kind. You will have a tour of a lifetime with amazing people to go to amazing places. I felt like a royalty in their care. China Spree is beyond comparison. A high class tour for a very low price.

On a scale of 1 to 10, George Lee gets a 1000! I travel a lot; but I have never met anyone more concerned, caring, knowledgeable, and efficient as our national guide in China. I do not eat Pork. No one could have cared more about that than George did. It was absolutely heart warming how attentive he was at every meal to make sure I did not accidentally eat a dish of pork. He made my tour beyond fantastic. I am almost speechless. He is a wonderful person. George would also patiently wait behind without showing any sign of impatience for that tourist who has to shop a little in every place no matter how rushed we were. Also George had a genuine pride for his country which was impressive and admirable.

14 days China’s Best TreasuresMy family of four have been contemplating a first time trip to China for the last two years. We have been having the desire to visit China to accquaire some understanding of our chinese heritage. Researching for the best tour was quite a challenge for me. After having read many itineraries from many different tour companies, Chinaspree is the one that met our needs the best. I chose Chinaspree’s 14 days China’s Best Treasures because of the toursistic attractions they offered. Basically all the tour companies offer you the same thing, but Chinaspree offered more than the basics and I felt this would help enhence my children’s cultural education. The highlight of our trip was the visit to the Dragon Spine Rice Terraces. This sightseeing spot was not included in any tour that I researched online. The experience was exceptional and the sight was something that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. Chinaspree handled all the logistics for the tour in the most thorough way. Their guides treated us like "imperials" and our entire time in China ran so smoothly we really felt spoiled. I have traveled with tour groups before, and this is by far the best tour I’ve taken, not only for the sights I visited, but also for the way evrything was handled both before the trip and during our trip. Needles to say having everything included in this trip was a big plus. We did not have to fork out more money for anything expect for a couple of optional tours we took in the evenings. In addition, unlike the other tours, Chinaspree did not schedule in two hours everyday for shopping. We did have enough time to shop, but by no means time was wasted to accomplish this task. Also at the end of our trip we had a whole day free to do whatever we wanted and we did most of our shopping then. The small groups that Chinaspree offers is defenitely a big plus. During this trip there were only 13 passengers and we truly became a family; everyone got along so well that at the end we were huging each other and saying good bye. The Meglev ride to the aiport at the end of our trip was like icing over the cake, what a way to end a wonderful trip. My husband commented, "the person who set up the itineray for this trip really made sure we had a chance to experience a little bit of everything. He did a terrific job." If I were to go back to China I would not waste time looking for another company, unless Chinaspree changes their standard, I would defenitely use them again.

Please comment on your tour manager.

Tom, our national guide deserves at 10+ rating for his unsurpassed dedication to our group. He went our of his way to see that everyone is happy with their visit to China. Some of the things he did for us that made our stay in China so pleasant:- My daughter slipped and fell at a private garden tour and skinned her elbow. Tom ran out to get her a bandaid (something that was not necessary, but he fell responsible for it).- When we decided to go to the evening market in Beijing, Tom accompanied us on this venture to insure we would not get lost.- Tom made sure we all had something to eat after our flight from Beijing to Xian was delaited 4 hours.- Tom and Shelly took us to scout the Yu Bazaar and the knock off market in Beijing so we would know what to do on our free day.- When our group decided to walk to the Bund in Shanghai on an evening on our free day to see the lights, Tom accompanied us and led the way.- Tom was like a mother hen always reminding us to stay safe, keep our posessions close to us, giving us advice on purchasing things so that we are not taken up by the local merchants, etc. What else can i say, everything we needed, Tom was there for us.

We went on China Spree Best Treasures May 19-June 1, 2008. All the guides were top notch, very knowledgeable, Our national guide, Angela was great, very knowledgeable and especially very personable. The places we saw exceeded our expectations. Expect as everyone says, nota vacation, but an adventure, which is well worth seeing. China Spree overall was a first class tour for a reasonable price and would definitely recommend to anyone that was going to China.

I was a neophyte international traveler as I began looking for a tour group to China. How does one put faith in information gleaned from the internet? (I later found out that there are indeed other online websites for people wanting to get more unsolicited information about particular tour groups, hotels, etc., but I didn't know that at the time.) I took solace from China Spree's website with the amount of information it carried as well as the multitude of links provided. We carefully compared advantages and disadvantages of three to four different tour companies and China Spree was a clear winner. The all-inclusive package was just that. The size of our group (17) was so much more comfortable than other groups I talked with which included upwards of 50 people. The feature of a national tour guide (for us, the wonderful Angela) who traveled with us throughout our trip made me feel secure in the great unknown of a vastly different culture. The clincher was the Dragon Spine Rice Terraces! No other company offered that option which looked so appealing and, in actuality, was so much more than I expected! My motive for visiting China was to see my daughter who lives in Beijing. China Spree was quite helpful in helping us arrange four extra days in the capital before meeting up with our group. They also worked it out so she could join us for the Peking Duck dinner in Beijing (an on-the-fly request) and for two nights in our hotel in Shanghai before we flew home. So, for me, China Spree offered the most interesting overall tour and the availability of a wonderful reunion with my daughter. If I ever get the chance to return to China, I will DEFINITELY choose China Spree again and recommend them to my friends.

China Spree’s China’s Best Treasures tour is an excellent overview of modern and ancient urban and rural life in China. It is chock full of experiences that provide a wonderful understanding of China’s imperial history, its profound societal changes, and its struggle to manage a huge and diverse population. The facilities provided for lodging, transportation and interpretation were excellent. The guides were informative and excellent. At the end of two weeks our understanding of this vast and complicated country was very rewarding. We would recommend this tour to anyone wanting a thorough exposure to modern and ancient China.

Questions from China Spree: Where did you learn about China Spree?

4 of my cousins did this tour in October with China Spree. They talked us out of going to Disneyland and going on your tour. Convincing 3 children 9,12, and 13 of not going to Disneyland, was actually pretty easy.

Questions from China Spree: Please comment on your Tour Manager and rate 1-10 while 10 is the best.

10 ++++ I can not put in words what a wonderful man our national guide was, he made our trip effortless, When we were in the airport , our tour group was the only American group not getting stopped at security because Jim was very clear on what not to carry on the plane. The thing that we loved about Jim was his comfort with us. When he was asked to sing a Chinese song on the bus to the group, he had no fear in singing a traditional song and later explained the meaning to us.

My wife and 3 children and I have never gone on a tour to another country together. This was a first, and we entered upon this with a little fear and caution. We were the youngest adults and had the only children in the group. We had reservations of the kids not understanding the language, not understanding the customs or alienating the older individuals in our group simply because the kids have a fair amount of energy. Because of our Lead guide Jim, we lost all those thoughts of fear after the first few hours. Jim acted like a family member to all of us. He embraced our children, as if his own. Through his actions we all melded together as one large extended family. Everyone was looking after everyone and Jim and the local guides were always looking after us. No one was forgotten and everyone made sure of that, especially Jim. As far as the customs and language, again the guides explained to us in terms that all of us including my 9 yr old daughter, could understand, By doing this, the trip was that much more enjoyable for all. If we find the time and the funds we will surely attempt another trip with China Spree. We can not say enough good things about the guides that shared their country with us.

We spent months doing research on the various tour companies and options for our trip to China. We decided on China Spree based on the itinerary and the value of the package. Having never been on a group tour before, we were a little nervous, however the China's Best Treasures trip with China Spree exceeded all of our expectations. Right from the moment we met our national guide in Beijing we felt well taken care of. The trip was so well organized that we didn't need to "think" at all. The finest details were all taken care of for us (wake up calls, food preferences, reservations, etc.), and the transportation and lodging were all first class. Without worrying about details we were able to spend all our time enjoying the country and learning from the excellent local guides. The sites we visited were all well thought out, and provided a nice mix of culture, landscape, history, local customs, and free time. The guides were very experienced in knowing the best times of day to visit the sites, the appropriate length of time to spend, and other information to make our visits as enjoyable as possible. All the guides went out of their way to be accommodating to our groups needs. The anxiety we had about traveling in a group tour were completely unfounded on this trip. Having a group allowed for a variety of dishes at every meal, the itinerary allowed for varying interests of the group members to be met, and the incredible organization allowed for efficient transportation, lodging check in, and all other aspects of the tour. We have highly recommend China Spree to our friends and family, and hope that we are able to take another tour soon ourselves.

I just returned from the two-week China's Best Treasures tour. When friends ask me about my trip to China, I have two things to say. "Go." And, "go with China Spree." I have now visited 37 countries, and this trip was by far my most enjoyable. My fear is, the 2008 Olympics will cause China to be discovered, and many of the joys and delights I experienced will go the way of anything that gets "discovered" and achieves overnight popularity. The things that surprised me the most were how modern the cities are, and how happy and friendly the people are. As wonderful as China is, I know a large part of my enjoyment was due to the impeccable planning, care, and attention of the China Spree staff. I'm already rethinking my next trip - taking a look at other China Spree tours. Too bad there's not a Paraguay Spree or "Sprees" to lots of other countries.

China Spree Questions: Please rate the performance of your national guide from 1 to 10 while 10 is the best.

Is there an 11? I've never seen a guide more concerned for the safety, well being, and enjoyment of his tour group. If the tour had been two weeks longer, I would have become totally helpless, since I had the confidence in Jeffery for me to become totally dependent on him to take care of everything.

If you go to China use ChinaSpree! If you don't use ChinaSpree, don't go to China! ChinaSpree will exceed your expectations in every way. The price of the trip and the quality and ease to understand the tour guides was exceptional. I just came home yesterday and am writing today to tell ChinaSpree how satisfied my wife and I and everyone in our group is. We will look at ChinaSpree on all other travel to Asia and any other location they may provide. Look no further, choose ChinaSpree and stop worrying. They are better than everyone in price, locations to visit and local and national tour guides. They are all easy to understand and a pleasure to be with. I loved every second of our trip! The money you save on travel with ChinaSpree you can use on buying presents in the Government factory stores. If 10 is the best I would give LUCY a 20 because she was exceptional!!!. Our tour guide LUCY was excellent. She was so professional and caring in every way. She went out of her way to make our trip delightful. She is as asset to your company and We will travel with Chinaspree again because of people like her. If you go to China use ChinaSpree, if you don't use ChinaSpree, don't go to China! (LUCY MADE US WANT TO USE CHINASPREE AGAIN.) Lucy was easy to understand and gave us detail on everything that we were going to see and do. She made recommendations on what to see on free time and each time it was the best. She made us feel like family and we all loved her. She truly was the best guide I have ever had on all the trips I have taken in the last 25 years. Lucy is China's BEST TREASURE!!! There is no doubt in my mind!!!! Keep her forever, give her a raise, she is worth every YUAN you give her. I just came home yesterday and wanted to tell you how pleased I was with LUCY today. She is the best in every way and should be used when a VIP from the USA or other country visits China. I know they will be as pleased as we are. Thank you ChinaSpree for a wonderful trip and please thank LUCY again for us.

We just returned from the Chinaspree.com 14 day China’s Best Treasures tour. I have questioned the validity of testimonials from companies over concern that they were written by the tour company and not individuals who had actually taken the tours so I did not put full faith in those on the Chinaspree website but they ended up being correct. I have traveled a lot over the years and this was the best trip that I have ever taken. The tour guides, hotels, itinerary, airlines, and food were all exceptional with not one complaint. The small size of the Chinaspree tours was extremely critical to the success of the trip. There was no time wasted dealing with large groups. There was intimate contact with the tour guides greatly enhancing the experience. The days were packed with activities and no time was wasted. We went all the way to China to experience everything and we did. You truly wonder how they can give you everything they did for the price. I will definitely take another Chinaspree tour at some future time as there are many other areas of China to see. This was written by a true traveler who prior to finding Chinaspree on the internet did not know of their existence so it is unbiased. Gerald Karpman Camarillo, CA

I enjoy traveling and have always made my own arrangements from air travel to ground transportation to hotels. My trip to China was a first; I decided to take a guided tour. China Spree did not disappoint. The tour was highly organized and efficient. The guides were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, taking good care of the tour group every step of the journey. Members of the group shared lots of laughs as we toured the country and saw too many wonderful things to describe here. I call it, "The Trip of a Lifetime" and have been recommending China Spree non-stop to all my friends, relatives and co-workers since arriving home. My trip to China will always hold a special place in my memory as one of my favorite international excursions.

Just by luck our group came across China Spree on the web. We were very skeptical at first, because we were unfamiliar with the company. After talking to Wilson on the phone, I felt very optimistic that this would be a great trip. Wilson suggested "China's Best Treasures" because our group had not been to China before. I wasn't familiar with most of the stops on the trip, but felt that if China Spree is recommending this trip it should be good. The trip was amazing! Everything was first rate. Our hotels were wonderful, the food was wonderful, and our guides were amazing! I can't believe how much China Spree packed into one day. The each stop was very educational. The trip could not have been better! Our guides did everything humanly possible to make our trip special. Every single person in our group had the same high opinion of the trip and of China Spree. The trip was absolutely perfect. I highly recommended China Spree to all my friends.

Dear Wilson We just got back from China. We had a wonderful trip. You were right. It was worth every penny we spent. I am copying this e-mail to all the travelers in our group to prompt them to send you their own impressions. China has obviously see a phenomenal metamorphosis. From a third world it has leap-frogged to become one of the economic powerhouses of the world. This was in evidence everywhere. Couched within all this, lies the soul of China......warmth, efficiency, loads of culture, tradition, friendliness and beauty.......most aptly symbolized by our National Guide Angela. Angela was worth her weight in gold. She handled our small group with age ranges of 10 to 68 with grace, fun and dependability. She was sick herself a couple of times and still never deserted us. She helped at all times and was clearly the best guide I have ever had... I would also like to recommend your tour to others and will be glad to receive e-mail from any future customers who need a recommendation about China Spree. The hotels were all great...We really enjoyed the Dumpling meal and Mongolian Barbecue...Allowing us to travel in a small group for the same price as bigger groups is your best advertisement. I left China wanting to go back and visit again!!! My head is filled with memories of art, history, palaces, huggable Chinese babies, museums, shopping, Shanghai skyscrapers, the Maglev train, the awe of nature in the Three Gorges, The Yangtzee Cruise, massages, paintings,......and laughter, learning and fun. Thank You again for a memorable trip.
